In God We Must Trust
July 2023
When the country was founded on Christ and the Bible, everything was different. Schools were different; homes were different; churches were different, and governments were different. The motto, “In God We Trust,” had true meaning. The three pillars of our nation were fully established: ¨Faith, Family, and Freedom.” God came first and everything, and everyone else came second.

Our founding fathers set up a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Our land was the land of godliness long before it became a land of prosperity. America became a military and economic power that continues today, but we have lost our spiritual sight, our spiritual hearing and our spiritual way. As a nation we are just lost period. It is very sad for our country.

Today, instead of “In God We Trust,” in reality it is, “In ourselves we trust.” We eat, live, sleep, do business, go to school, and play apart from God. We have turned away from His guidance, direction, help, and blessing. America has amnesia. She has forgotten who she is, she has forgotten her roots, and sadly she has forgotten her God.

The words of Jesus spoken over 2,000 years ago are very appropriate for our nation and our world today, “O faithless generation, how long shall I put up with you? How long shall I bear with you…” (Mark 5:19). If Jesus wept over Jerusalem in His day, how much more must He weep over America and our world today?

Before we give up, let us pray and live our lives in such a way as to show the world that we trust in God not in ourselves. Jesus has saved us, and there are still many churches who preach the Word of God and many believers who live for Christ and serve Him. The Lord Jesus told Paul in 1 Corinthians 18:9,10, “…Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”

The Lord also encouraged a downhearted Elijah the prophet by saying, “Yet, I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all those who have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him” (1 Kings 19:18). We may be in the minority, we may be few in number, but like Paul and Elijah we are not alone. We are part of God’s army today. We have God’s presence, power and peace. So let us remember, “In God we must trust.”
