Jesus: The Way, The Truth, And The Life

John 14:5-6 says, “Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” I thank God that Thomas asked the question, and we have the wonderful answer in John 14:6. Jesus is clear, straightforward, and accurate: there is one and only one way to God the Father, and that is through Him. Many mistakenly think there are many ways to God, eternal life, and heaven. All other ways lead to hell and destruction. Only Jesus leads to salvation and eternal life in heaven.

The Apostle John records all seven great “I am” statements in his gospel. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. I am the light of the world. I am the door. I am the good shepherd. I am the true vine. I am the resurrection and the life. I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus is God, the great I AM. He came down from the Father to show us the way to God and to die on the cross for our sins. Hallelujah, what a Savior!

Jesus is the way, and when He called His followers, He said, “Follow Me.” He is the only One worthy of our faith, allegiance, devotion, and obedience. There is no one else. Are you following Him? Jesus is the truth, and He speaks the truth. Are you obeying His truth? The devil is the opposite; he is a liar and the father of lies. Jesus is the life. He gave His life on the cross so that we through faith in Him will have everlasting life. Do you have this life in you?

There is a children’s song that is so beautiful that says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. That’s what Jesus said. Without the way, there is no going; without the truth, there is no knowing; without the life, there is no growing. You are the way that I must keep to; You are the truth that I must trust to; You are the life that I must live to. You are the way that’s not pretending; You are the truth that’s never bending; You are the life that’s never ending. You are the way, there’s no way straighter; You are the truth, there’s no truth greater; You are the life, You’re the Creator. You are the way, we can truly see; You are the truth that sets us free; You are the life, that always will be.”

Let us rejoice in Christ Jesus our Lord and follow Him daily, obey His truth always, and abide in Him all our days. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” We are so blessed!
