A New Year Dawns
January 2024
The Psalmist joyfully exclaims, “O sing unto the Lord a new song: for He hath done marvelous things” (Psalm 98:1). Singing praises is as natural to the Christian as breathing. Joy springs from a grateful heart. When we look back over the past year can we not find so many things to praise God for? He has been so faithful, so good, so kind, so generous, so patient, so loving, and so forgiving.

Because of what God has done for us in the past and is doing for us in the present, we can look forward to the future in hope, anticipation, and faith for what the Lord has in store for us in the coming year 2012. A new year always represents a new beginning, a fresh start, and a new outlook. Our God is a God of second chances. He wants the only best for us all the time.

While we do not know what the New Year will bring, one thing we know is that the Lord Jesus will be with us and will see us through whatever circumstances we face. His grace is sufficient, and He never changes. The future is bright for the child of light! Thus, we should never fear the future. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

In the New Testament, there are so many references to the word “new.” There is the new covenant, the new birth, the new nature, new life, new bodies, new heavens and new earth, a new creation, a new commandment, and a new song. The Lord loves to work in our lives in a new way and to reveal Himself to us in His Word.

As we embark on the New Year, let us ask the Lord to work in us and through us in a new and dynamic way. Let us not be satisfied with spiritual mediocrity but desire a closer walk with our Savior this year. Let us pray more often and more fervently. Let us read, study and meditate on His Word and ask Him to show us new things for our lives so we can be a greater blessing to others for His kingdom and glory. A New Year dawns!
