Sermon 11/23/2014
Something to Sing About
Adel Akl Psalms 105:1-5

The Thanksgiving holiday is unique to the United States. Established in November 1623, Governor William Bradford declared that this day should be set aside in order to concentrate all of our gratitude towards God. Throughout the years, George Washington, other Presidents, as well as the United States Congress have upheld and affirmed the purpose of this holiday.

Often times, when we think of our blessings, we focus on our families, material or tangible things. That is a noble thing to do; however, a far better thing to do is to turn our focus and attention to the mercy and grace the Lord has showered upon us.

This sermon reminds us of the Israelites, who sang a song of thankfulness when they were freed from Egyptian slavery. God had delivered them and set them free. It also reminds us that God still works in the same way today. God is still willing and able to set you free from sin.  Placing your faith in Jesus will give you a new life and put a new song of joy, peace, praise and thanksgiving in your heart.

Have you discovered that wonderful and unique love of Jesus Christ?
