Sermon 08/29/2010
The Beatitudes - Part 2
Randy White Matthew 5
Jesus' Sermon on the Mount was a pivitol point in His earthly ministry. Some say that this Sermon "holds the dynamite of the Holy Spirit". It contains the standards by which all believers must conduct their lives.

Today's message examines the attitudes of gentleness, righteousness and mercy and highlights the unique characteristics of a believer who chooses to adopt these attitudes.

Gentleness or meakness can be defined as "power under control." Are you known for making peace or known to stir things up?

Do you seek righteousness, honesty, integrity and justice in your life? Jesus desires that we literally hunger and thirst for righteousness. Those who seek righteousness cannot tolerate sin in their lives.

Mercy is exemplified by one who displays sympathy and compassion towards anyone in need. Someone who is merciful, does not deal with others in a harsh manner.

Only when we choose to yeild our lives completely to God, under the control of the Holy Spirit, will we be able to embody these characteristics.
