Sermon 03/16/2008
The Gift Of The Spirit
Bill Murray John: 14:16-17,26
The instant a person is truly born again, an amazing gift is recieved -- the gift of the the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit indwells us. The Holy Spirit convicts us. When we go through affliction, the Holy Spirit comforts us. When we are at a loss of words before the Lord, the Holy Spirit intervenes "with groaning too great for words." The Holy Spirit is a helper in our daily walks. When we are in concert with the Lord, there is an enthusiasm in our lives, a spring in our step no matter what the circumstance; however, sin breaks this cycle. If we habitually sin and stay in that sin, doing nothing to bring ourselves into a right relationship with God, the resulting quality of life will be miserable. The good news is that the moment we confess our sin, this relationship is instantly restored. The Lord is faithful to forgive our sins and remember them no more.
