He Will Teach Us His Ways
February 2017
The Bible is not only the bestselling book in the world, it is the Word of God. It is “the Book.” If you want to know about God, it is in the Book. If you want to know about heaven and hell, it is in the Book. If you want to know about salvation and eternal life, it is in the Book. If you want to know how to live in this world, it is in the Book.

2 Timothy 3;16-17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The whole Bible is profitable and needed for our instruction.

God is our teacher, and He has so much to teach us of His ways. Our lifetime is our schoolhouse, and our graduation takes place when we enter heaven. The psalmist said in Psalm 86:11, “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.” He is the most patient, encouraging, and perfect teacher. He wants us to learn, grow, and be like Christ.

When we read and study the Word of God, God teaches us His ways, His will, and to do His work. There are promises to claim, principles to live by, and commands to obey. It is so awesome! We can spend years learning the Bible and find we have barely scratched the surface. In fact, we will be learning for all eternity.

It is said that when the famous missionary, Dr. David Livingstone, started his trek across Africa he had 73 books in 3 packs, weighing 180 pounds. After the party had gone 300 miles, Livingstone was obliged to throw away some of the books because of the fatigue of those carrying his baggage. As he continued on his journey his library grew less and less, until he had but one book left — his Bible.

If the Bible is such an amazing and awesome Book, why do so few people read it and know it? Even among many of God’s people today there are very few who have a great knowledge of the Word. It takes a hunger and a thirst for God’s Word to get to where we should be. It takes time, effort, and diligence. How about you? Are you willing to say to the Lord, “Teach me, Lord?”
