It Is Time To Seek The Lord
January 2017
As we begin a new year it is a time to reflect on where we are and take inventory of our spiritual lives. Time seems to go so fast, and the coming of the Lord is nearer than when we first believed. Our heavenly Father loves us so much and wants the best for us. Hosea 10:12 exhorts us, “Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up the fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”

The prophet lays a two-fold plan for revival and spiritual renewal in the New Year. Sow for yourselves righteousness, and break up your fallow ground. God never sugar coats our situation. Conviction is always good for the soul, and taking the right action is imperative for our well-being.

It is good to have goals in our walk with the Lord, especially at the beginning of a new year, but we find that we cannot achieve them on our own. We need the Lord’s guidance, strength, and help every single day. He is the key to victory!

But it is time to seek the Lord. One of our main problems is procrastination. Instead to tackling the issue head on with the Lord’s help we put it off for another day, another week, another month, or sadly another year. Even sadder is we don’t do it at all. Surrender is the key to our growth and victory. It is not easy to sow for ourselves righteousness and reap mercy. Obedience to the Word of God means living a righteous and holy life in practical ways. It means taking a stand even when it is difficult.

At times our hearts can be so hard, and we have to break up the fallow ground. God’s is merciful to us and uses people and circumstances to get our attention. The closer we draw to Him the more He will show what needs to change. Change is often difficult and our wills don’t like change. We like to stay in warm, comfortable places and not go out where we may experience storms. But the word says, “It is time to seek the Lord.” If we follow God’s plan, 2017 will be a good year for our lives.
